Chesterfield Kings Ready for “Sunrise”
Garage legends The Chesterfield Kings drop their latest slab o’ snarling, cortex-shearing tuneage on the public this coming September 18. The title, appropriately enough, is Psychedelic Sunrise, and the venue is none other than Wicked Cool Records, the label founded by Little Steven, aka Steve “E Street Band” Van Zandt, aka Silvio Dante from The Sopranos. It’s to be the followup to 2003’s Mindbending Sounds Of The Chesterfield Kings, which was re-released last year on Wicked cool.

The Kings, of course, are mainstays of Little Steven’s syndicated radio show “Little Steven’s Underground Garage” and have performed at his U.G. showcases. (See the photo.) The man holds them in such high regard that he has a special corner of his website set aside for them with photos, discography and a mini-history.

The album was recorded at the band’s Living Eye Recording Studio in Rochester, NY. Band members Andy Babiuk and Greg Provost produced and engineered the disc with Little Steven serving as executive producer. The album was mixed by Ed Stasium (Ramones, Mick Jagger, etc.).

Enthused Little Steven in a press release, “They continue to set the standard for every other modern live band consistently driving the crowd into an ecstatic rave-up frenzy inevitably resulting in spiritual enlightenment.”

Hey, nothing like having a wiseguy in your corner, eh?
